Customize Your Company's Message of the Day

Your organization may use the Message of the Day Admin Screen to change the information that appears when users log into Chrome River. Below are detailed instructions on customizing the appearance of that information.

First, select the changeset you would like to use to publish your updates to the Message of the Day, then click MOTD.

A changeset is just a way to make changes to the user interface that can be tracked and easily reversed, if necessary. You may select an existing changeset (e.g., one you've already created containing related changes you'd like to make) or create a new one. See Create and Publish Changesets for complete details.

Now you may edit the components of the existing MOTD. For details on creating a new MOTD and then copying its HTML into the existing MOTD to replace it, see Message of the Day Admin Screen.

You may delete or reinsert the company logo you provided to Chrome River during Implementation.

Quick Links

Quick links are predesigned text- or icon-based elements that users can click for easy access to important information. Quick link containers are responsive, meaning that the contents shift depending on the size of the browser window. This prevents certain elements from being cut off for users with narrow-screen devices.

There are two types of quick links you may create:

  • Navigation: Create a button users can click to navigate elsewhere, such as to a Help Guide or a download. You may customize the icon, title, description, label for the URL (e.g., "Click Here"), and URL. Users may click anywhere in the text to open the URL.

  • Contact: Create clickable contact information: name, phone number, and/or email address. When users click the icon or email address, their email client will automatically open. If they click the phone number, they will have the option to dial the number.

Once you choose either Navigation or Contact for the first quick link in a container, all additional quick links in that container must be the same type. To add the other type of quick link, you will need to create a new quick link container.

1. To add a new quick link container, click the Quick Link icon in the formatting menu bar. This creates a new section where you can add either type of quick link.

2. To add a new quick link to an existing quick link container, click ADD QUICK LINKS from inside the container.

  • Note: If there are already quick links in the container, you will only be able to add the same type of quick link already in the container. To add the other type of quick link, you will need to create a new quick link container.

3. Choose the desired orientation of the quick link.

  • Horizontal: This places the icon to the left of the text. All text will be left-justified.

  • Vertical: This centers the icon above the text. All text will be centered.

Once you choose either Horizontal or Vertical for the first quick link in a container, all additional quick links in that container must be the same layout. To add a quick link with the other layout, you will need to create a new quick link container.

Personalize Via "Active User"

The ACTIVE USER drop-down menu allows you to insert fields that automatically display customized text unique to each user viewing the Message of the Day.

For example, you may wish to have each user see a personalized greeting on the Message of the Day screen and to show their Default Currency Code for expenses.

Simply place your cursor where you want that type of custom text to be entered and select it from the drop-down list. Click SAVE to see how the Message of the Day will appear to users.
