Emburse Connect for Analytics Snowflake Client Driver Deprecation

For Chrome River customers who extract data directly out of the Emburse Data Warehouse into their own reporting environments, our data warehouse vendor, Snowflake, will be deprecating older clients for connecting to the warehouse in February 2025.

Based on the Snowflake Support policy, any client driver version lower than those listed below will no longer be supported beginning February 1, 2025.

  • Snowflake SnowSQL 1.2.24
  • Snowflake Python Connector 3.0.0
  • Snowflake JDBC Driver 3.13.27
  • Snowflake ODBC Driver 2.25.7
  • Snowflake Node.JS Driver 1.6.18
  • Snowflake Go Driver 1.6.17
  • Snowflake .NET Driver 2.0.20
  • Snowflake SQLAlchemy Driver 1.4.5
  • Snowflake PHP PDO 1.2.6
  • Snowflake Kafka 1.6.9
  • Snowflake Spark 2.11.1

We recommend all customers upgrade to the latest version of the relevant Snowflake driver to take advantage of important fixes and enhancements to security, performance, and other functions. Snowflake will not be able to assist with any issues related to versions that are no longer supported.

To check the driver version in use, you may now view the driver version information on the Query History tab under the Client Info column. Further details can be found on the Snowflake Client Version & Support Policy page.

MOBILE

Email Authentication for Emburse Chrome River Mobile App

For customers who have mobile device management policies that make it challenging for personal devices to log in to the Emburse Chrome River mobile app via SSO, we now offer the option for users to log in using Email Authentication instead. If you choose to activate this for your organization, users will enter their email address and receive a One-Time Passcode (OTP) that they must enter into the mobile app in order to log in. Users remain logged in to the Emburse Chrome River mobile app with all the receipt-capture capabilities for a 30- to 90-day session length similar to SSO login.

Note that Email Authentication must be enabled for all users at your organization; it is not possible to enable it for just certain users and allow other users to continue logging in via SSO. Additionally, users will only have access to receipt-capture-related features of the Emburse Chrome River mobile app, not the features related to expense reporting, pre-approvals reporting, and approval capabilities that will be added to the Emburse Chrome River mobile app in future releases.

If you are interested in taking advantage of this enhancement, please submit a case via the Chrome River Help Desk.

PER DIEM

Introducing Self-Service Custom Per Diem Rate Updates

Customers who have configured custom per diem rates may now upload their own changes via the Per Diem Rates admin screen. When admins with appropriate permissions click the new Import button, they will be able to download the current custom rates file for use as a template when uploading the new rates. Alternatively, they may click the new Export button on the Per Diem Rates admin screen to download the current custom rates.

Note that only custom rates set up for your organization by Chrome River may be updated this way. Per diem rates for standard rate locations like Germany and the US may be downloaded via Export but may not be imported.

Multiple IdPs for Emburse Chrome River Mobile App Authentication

For customers who use more than one SSO/IdP to authenticate their users, the Emburse Chrome River mobile app can now read the different SSO configurations and handle multiple IdPs. When a user enters their email address into the Emburse Chrome River app, they will be given a list of IdP domains to select from. Once the user selects a domain, the login page for that SSO/IdP will appear to allow the user to log in with their credentials.

Invoice Spend Overview Dashboard Enhancements

For Chrome River INVOICE customers, we have updated the Invoice Spend Overview dashboard so the Aging Invoice Spend by Bucket and Top 100 Vendors By Aging Bucket tiles only include invoices that are in draft, pending, or approved status. This is more closely aligned with the intent of the dashboard to show the aging of invoices that have not yet been exported, allowing your organization to keep a track of open spend commitments.

New Field for Emburse Connect for Analytics

Chrome River customers who subscribe to Emburse Connect for analytics will see an extended ExpenseLineApprovalStep view with a new field: ExpenseReportLineID. This enables you to join to the routing view at a Line level, rather than at an Allocation level, to report on all steps. This can be especially useful if your organization’s approvers frequently change allocations.
